This service is FREE with your instrument purchase.
From the moment you order your instrument from Folk of the Wood your lifetime support commences.
The process starts with the factory sending the instrument to the stateside distributor or are built stateside to begin with. From there the instrument is shipped to us. Almost all handcrafted American made instruments are set from factory, however, most imports are not. Overseas shipping can take an instrument out of adjustment. More often than not it can be corrected with light set up.
Your instrument is professionally set up before it leaves our shop by a professionally trained luthier to make certain factory issues, if any, are taken care of before it ships out to you. (Go to Free Instrument Setup for details) If there is an issue where the instrument cannot be adjusted to play correctly, it will not be shipped. This might delay your order – but we will not send an adjustment out that is below it’s standard.
Feel free at any time to call us with questions regarding your acquisition. All questions are considered to be sensible. We have a full time luthier on staff that can help ensure your instrument is kept in peak performing condition. At Folk o the Wood we understand that an instrument which is not performing well influences how you play and sometimes how often you play. Does the instrument just sit in it’s case because it won’t hold tune, intonate correctly, buzz or the action is too high? Often a simple phone call can remedy the issue.
Once you receive your instrument from our competitors, it may not be set up at all or it arrives exactly the way it left the factory. Even if they do set up, most of the time your on your own. If there is a buzz or tuning issue getting KNOWLEDGEABLE help is hard to come by or even worse nonexistent. Headaches are ensured. Yes most have a guarantee for return, but what about six months from now when the weather changes and the neck needs adjusting on the guitar you have fallen in love with.
